Class 150 F316/L Stainless Steel Threaded, Raised-Face Flange

Class 150 F316/L Stainless Steel Threaded Raised-Face Flange

The Class 150 F316/L Stainless Steel Threaded Raised-Face Flange manufactured to ASME A/SA182 and ASME B16.5 requirements provides a strong, corrosion-resistant connection for industrial piping systems where a threaded flange connection is required. Its forged stainless steel construction combines excellent mechanical strength with convenient installation without welding the pipe directly to the flange.

ASME A/SA182 F316/L Stainless Steel

ASTM A182 / ASME SA-182 F316/F316L stainless steel offers excellent durability and corrosion resistance for demanding process environments. The molybdenum content in F316/F316L provides improved resistance to pitting and corrosion in many chloride-containing environments compared with F304 stainless steel.

The lower carbon content of F316L stainless steel helps minimize carbide precipitation during welding of associated piping components and fabrication.

Class 150 Threaded Flange Design

A threaded flange contains internal pipe threads designed to connect with compatible externally threaded pipe. Because the pipe-to-flange connection does not require welding, threaded flanges provide a practical option for piping systems where welding is undesirable, restricted, or impractical.

Class 150 F316/L threaded flanges are used in chemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage production, water treatment, marine environments, utilities, and industrial process piping systems.

The Class 150 designation identifies an ASME pressure class rather than a maximum working pressure of exactly 150 PSI. Allowable pressure depends on material, size, temperature, and applicable pressure-temperature ratings.

Raised-Face Flange Construction

The raised-face (RF) design features an elevated gasket seating area that concentrates bolting load over the gasket to help establish a dependable seal.

ASME B16.5 establishes applicable flange dimensions, facing requirements, bolt-hole patterns, tolerances, and pressure-temperature ratings.

Selecting an F316/L Threaded Flange

When ordering, verify nominal pipe size, thread specification, F316/F316L material, Class 150 rating, RF facing, ASME A/SA182 specification, ASME B16.5 requirements, gasket, bolting, operating temperature, process media, and corrosion requirements.
