Class 150 F304/L Stainless Steel Lap Joint, Flat-Face Flange
Class 150 F304/L Stainless Steel Lap Joint Flat-Face Flange
The Class 150 F304/L Stainless Steel Lap Joint Flat-Face Flange manufactured to ASME A/SA182 and ASME B16.5 requirements provides a versatile, corrosion-resistant connection for industrial piping systems. Designed for use with a compatible lap joint stub end, this flange offers convenient bolt-hole alignment, simplified piping assembly, and easier disassembly for inspection or maintenance.
ASME A/SA182 F304/L Stainless Steel
ASTM A182 / ASME SA-182 F304/F304L stainless steel provides excellent general corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, durability, and fabrication characteristics. F304L has a lower carbon content than F304, helping reduce carbide precipitation associated with welding temperatures.
F304/L stainless steel flanges are widely used in chemical processing, food and beverage production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, water treatment, utilities, power generation, manufacturing, and industrial process piping systems.
Class 150 Lap Joint Flange Design
A lap joint flange functions as a backing flange behind a compatible stub end. The flange is not normally welded directly to the pipe and can rotate around the stub end, allowing bolt holes to be aligned more easily with the mating flange during installation.
This rotating design is particularly useful in piping systems requiring frequent dismantling, inspection, cleaning, maintenance, or precise flange alignment.
The Class 150 designation represents an ASME pressure class rather than a maximum operating pressure of exactly 150 PSI. Allowable pressure depends on material, size, temperature, and applicable pressure-temperature ratings.
Flat-Face Lap Joint Construction
The flat-face (FF) lap joint flange provides a flat bearing surface against the back of the compatible stub end. In a lap joint assembly, the stub end provides the gasket seating surface and contacts the process fluid, while the backing flange supplies the bolting force.
ASME B16.5 establishes applicable dimensions, facing requirements, bolt patterns, tolerances, and pressure-temperature ratings.
Selecting an F304/L Lap Joint Flange
When ordering, verify nominal pipe size, F304/F304L material, Class 150 rating, flat-face configuration, compatible stub end, ASME A/SA182 specification, ASME B16.5 requirements, gasket, bolting, temperature, and process media.
