Class 300 Forged Carbon Steel Lap Joint, Flat-Face Flange

Class 300 A105/SA-105 Lap Joint Flat-Face Flange

The Class 300 ASTM A105 / ASME SA-105 ASME B16.5 Forged Carbon Steel Lap Joint Flat-Face Flange provides a versatile, durable connection for industrial piping systems where convenient alignment, assembly, and disassembly are important. Manufactured from forged carbon steel, this flange is designed for use with a compatible lap joint stub end to create a dependable bolted piping connection.

ASTM A105 / ASME SA-105 Forged Carbon Steel

Manufactured from ASTM A105 / ASME SA-105 forged carbon steel, this Class 300 lap joint flange offers excellent mechanical strength, toughness, and durability. A105/SA-105 forged steel flanges are widely used throughout oil and gas, petrochemical processing, refineries, power generation, chemical processing, manufacturing, utilities, and industrial process piping systems.

The Class 300 designation represents an ASME pressure class rather than a maximum working pressure of 300 PSI. Actual allowable pressure depends on material, temperature, system components, and applicable pressure-temperature ratings.

Lap Joint Flange Design

A lap joint flange is used with a separate stub end. The stub end is attached to the pipe while the backing flange remains free to rotate around the pipe behind it. This rotational capability simplifies alignment of the flange bolt holes during installation, maintenance, or piping modifications.

Because the lap joint flange does not normally contact the process fluid directly, the flange and stub end may be selected from different compatible materials when permitted by the piping specification and service requirements.

Flat-Face Flange Construction

The lap joint flange has a flat-faced configuration that bears against the back of the compatible stub end. The stub end provides the actual gasket seating surface for the assembled flange connection.

Manufactured to applicable ASME B16.5 requirements, Class 300 A105/SA-105 lap joint flanges provide standardized dimensions, bolt patterns, and pressure-temperature ratings.

When ordering, verify nominal pipe size, Class 300 rating, lap joint configuration, compatible stub end, A105/SA-105 material, ASME B16.5 dimensions, and service requirements for dependable industrial piping performance.
