ASME A/SA182 316/316L Stainless Steel Flange
ASME A/SA182 316/316L Stainless Steel Flange
The ASME A/SA182 316/316L Stainless Steel Flange provides a strong, corrosion-resistant connection for demanding commercial and industrial piping systems. Manufactured from forged or rolled stainless steel, these flanges combine excellent mechanical strength, durability, and enhanced corrosion resistance for pressure-containing applications exposed to aggressive process and environmental conditions.
ASTM A182 / ASME SA-182 F316/F316L Stainless Steel
ASTM A182 / ASME SA-182 covers forged or rolled alloy and stainless steel pipe flanges, forged fittings, valves, and related components for pressure systems. F316 and F316L stainless steel are austenitic stainless grades containing molybdenum, which provides improved resistance to pitting and corrosion in many chloride-containing environments compared with 304 stainless steel.
316L stainless steel has a lower carbon content than standard 316, helping minimize carbide precipitation during welding. This makes 316L especially useful for welded piping systems where corrosion resistance in heat-affected areas is important.
316/316L Stainless Steel Flange Applications
A/SA182 316/316L stainless steel flanges are widely used in chemical processing, petrochemical facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage processing, water treatment, marine environments, pulp and paper, power generation, and industrial process piping systems.
Their excellent corrosion resistance makes 316/316L flanges particularly valuable where piping may encounter moisture, chemicals, salt exposure, or other corrosive conditions.
Flange Styles and Pressure Classes
Depending on size and application, A/SA182 F316/F316L flanges are available in weld neck, slip-on, socket weld, threaded, blind, and lap joint configurations. Facing options may include raised face (RF), flat face (FF), and ring-type joint (RTJ) where applicable.
Pressure classes can include Class 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500, depending on flange configuration, size, and dimensional standard.
Selecting a 316/316L Stainless Steel Flange
When ordering, verify nominal pipe size, F316/F316L grade, pressure class, flange style, facing, pipe schedule or bore, dimensional standard, gasket, bolting, temperature, process media, and corrosion requirements for dependable industrial piping performance.
