Class 150 F316/L Stainless Steel Weld Neck, Raised-Face Flange use with Schedule 40S Pipe

Class 150 F316/L Stainless Steel Weld Neck Raised-Face Flange for Schedule 40S Pipe

The Class 150 F316/L Stainless Steel Weld Neck Raised-Face Flange used with Schedule 40S pipe provides a strong, corrosion-resistant connection for demanding industrial stainless steel piping systems. Manufactured to ASME A/SA182 and ASME B16.5 requirements, this flange combines forged stainless steel construction with a tapered weld neck hub for reliable pressure piping performance.

ASME A/SA182 F316/L Stainless Steel

ASTM A182 / ASME SA-182 F316/F316L stainless steel offers excellent mechanical strength, durability, and corrosion resistance. The addition of molybdenum improves resistance to pitting and corrosion in many chloride-containing and aggressive environments compared with F304 stainless steel.

The lower carbon content of F316L stainless steel helps minimize carbide precipitation during welding, supporting corrosion resistance in properly fabricated welded piping systems.

Weld Neck Flange for Schedule 40S Pipe

A weld neck flange incorporates a long tapered hub that provides a gradual transition from the flange into the connected pipe. The flange is butt welded to compatible Schedule 40S stainless steel pipe, producing a strong, permanent connection while helping distribute mechanical stresses through the hub.

The flange bore should be correctly matched to the Schedule 40S pipe wall thickness and inside diameter to provide proper internal alignment and weld preparation.

These flanges are commonly used in chemical processing, petrochemical plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage production, water treatment, marine applications, utilities, and industrial process piping.

The Class 150 designation represents an ASME pressure class rather than a maximum working pressure of exactly 150 PSI.

Raised-Face Flange Construction

The raised-face (RF) design provides an elevated gasket seating area that concentrates bolting force over the gasket to help establish an effective seal.

ASME B16.5 establishes applicable dimensions, facing requirements, bolt patterns, tolerances, and pressure-temperature ratings.

Selecting an F316/L Schedule 40S Weld Neck Flange

When ordering, verify nominal pipe size, Schedule 40S bore, F316/F316L material, Class 150 rating, RF facing, ASME A/SA182 specification, ASME B16.5 requirements, gasket, bolting, welding procedure, temperature, process media, and corrosion requirements.
